Every year at Camp Li-Lo-Li we have an overarching theme for the whole year. Each of our Camp Directors makes use of that theme in a different ways. For some, our camp theme becomes their program theme. Others take the theme and weave elements of it into their program in creative ways.
Our primary goal is to have a theme that supports our camp mission, which is to present the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of God’s Word to children, youth and families within a rural camp setting. In all things we desire to see the name of the Lord Jesus Christ proclaimed and glorified!
Over the past few years, some of our themes have been Walking in the Light, Serving the Lord, and Rejoicing in Hope. Each one had lessons for those that were believers in the Lord Jesus Christ and those that were not. Many put their trust in the Lord by coming to understand the truths of God’s Word.
This year our theme is taken from the last part of Hebrews 10:23, He who promised is faithful. Some people make promises with no intention of keeping them. Edmund Burke has said, Hypocrisy can afford to be magnificent in its promises, for never intending to go beyond promise, it costs nothing. However, most of us make promises, expecting to keep them but not always able to control the circumstances. God is never surprised by the unexpected and so when He makes a promise, He is faithful in keeping it. Someone has said that, No pillow is so soft as God's promise and that is true! We can rest in it and rely upon it. The history of the Old Testament is the story of God’s faithfulness and man’s unfaithfulness.
When we say, I can’t do it, God promises, “with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26. We might feel that our circumstances are overwhelming, but God promises, “My grace is sufficient for you” 2 Corinthians 12:9. But more important than our daily concerns, God makes promises that lead us to eternal life “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9. God loves us and desires that we come to Him for salvation. “God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” John 3:16-17
Please pray with us that the many will come to put their faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and that they will also come to know the reality that “He who promised is faithful”.
